?Digital literacy has emerged as a ray of hope for those who have lost all hopes from life. For those who are unable to earn their livelihood and are dependent on others due to some disability, digital literacy has proved to be a boon by empowering them to be self-dependent. Bringing dramatic transformation in their lives, digital technology has enabled them not only to earn their livelihood and support family, but also become a role model for all.

These life-changing transformations are being executed by none other than the Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) of Common Services Centres across rural swaths of India, transforming it into digitally inclusive and empowered society.

VLE Ravikiran Kakde who runs a CSC at Chohatta Bajar locality in Akola district, Maharashtra met Sunit Bute, a Divyang person, who had been going through severe difficulties owing to his inability to get source of income. VLE advised him to get digitally literate under government’s Pradhan Mantri Gramin Digital Saksharta Abhiyan (PMGDISHA). VLE imparted computer skills to the 40-year-old divyangjan at his CSC. He taught him to operate computer, browse Internet and use email. He also taught him to use a smartphone and do digital transactions through BHIM App.

Digital literacy has empowered Divyang Sunil to be self-dependent, earn his livelihood and support family. Like Sunil, CSC has an unprecedented number of success stories that address the issues from employment to social integration with regard to the differently-abled beneficiaries

After getting digitally trained, Sunil Bute set up a small shop in his locality with the help of his friends. At the shop, he provides various services like Internet surfing, mobile recharge, train ticket booking, etc. Sunil now also performs cashless transactions through BHIM App for merchandise.

Digital literacy has empowered him to be self-dependent, earn his livelihood and support family. Like Sunil, CSC has an unprecedented number of success stories that address the issues from employment to social integration with regard to the differently-abled beneficiaries. By bringing positive change in the life of a Divyang person, Ravikiran has emerged as a champion VLE who is relentlessly putting efforts towards making India a digitally empowered society. editor@ictpost.com
